Product Description
The Roadmaster 523221-5 is an EZ5 direct-connect base plate kit made for the 2023–2026 GMC Canyon. A base plate mounts to the towed vehicle's frame behind the front bumper and gives a motorhome-mounted tow bar a strong, vehicle-specific attachment point for flat towing. The EZ5 design uses removable twist-lock tabs: the tow bar attaches directly to the tabs, so no crossbar is needed, and the tabs come off when you're not towing.
The base plate is custom-made for this vehicle and connects to existing frame holes and fasteners wherever possible. To complete a flat-towing setup, pair it with a compatible tow bar, safety cables, a towed-vehicle wiring kit and a supplemental braking system. Always confirm in your owner's manual that your vehicle can be flat towed and follow its towing procedure.

Pro tipBefore you order a base plate
- Match year, make, model and trim. Base plates are vehicle-specific, and trims with adaptive cruise, front sensors or a different bumper often need a different plate.
- Confirm your vehicle can be flat towed. Check the “recreational towing” section of the owner’s manual — not every car, transmission or drivetrain can be towed four-down.
- Mixing brands needs an adapter. Base plate and tow bar brands use different connection styles (for example, a Blue Ox base plate with a Roadmaster tow bar). We’ll tell you exactly which adapter you need.
Not sure what fits? Send us your vehicle — we’ll confirm before you order.
