Product Description
The Roadmaster 523218-5 is a direct-connect (EZ5-style) base plate kit made for the 2022–2023 Chevrolet Traverse. A base plate mounts to the towed vehicle's frame behind the front bumper and gives a motorhome-mounted tow bar a strong, vehicle-specific attachment point for flat towing. In Roadmaster's numbering, the -5 kit is the direct-connect version, where the tow bar attaches directly to the removable tabs with no crossbar; the -4 kit (523218-4) is the crossbar-style EZ4 version for the same vehicle.
The base plate is custom-made for this vehicle and connects to existing frame holes and fasteners wherever possible. To complete a flat-towing setup, pair it with a compatible tow bar, safety cables, a towed-vehicle wiring kit and a supplemental braking system. Always confirm in your owner's manual that your vehicle can be flat towed and follow its towing procedure.

Pro tipBefore you order a base plate
- Match year, make, model and trim. Base plates are vehicle-specific, and trims with adaptive cruise, front sensors or a different bumper often need a different plate.
- Confirm your vehicle can be flat towed. Check the “recreational towing” section of the owner’s manual — not every car, transmission or drivetrain can be towed four-down.
- Mixing brands needs an adapter. Base plate and tow bar brands use different connection styles (for example, a Blue Ox base plate with a Roadmaster tow bar). We’ll tell you exactly which adapter you need.
Not sure what fits? Send us your vehicle — we’ll confirm before you order.
