Product Description
The Roadmaster 521637-5 is a direct-connect base plate kit made for the 2017 Kia Rio. A base plate mounts to the towed vehicle's frame behind the front bumper and gives a motorhome-mounted tow bar a strong, vehicle-specific attachment point for flat towing. With the direct-connect design, the tow bar attaches directly to the base plate's removable tabs, eliminating the need for a crossbar, which makes hooking up and disconnecting quicker.
Roadmaster recommends this direct-connect style for motorhome-mounted tow bars, with the exception of the Sterling. Trimming of the spoiler, air dam, grille or plastic fascia may be required on some models. Always confirm in your owner's manual that your vehicle can be flat towed and follow its towing procedure.

Pro tipBefore you order a base plate
- Match year, make, model and trim. Base plates are vehicle-specific, and trims with adaptive cruise, front sensors or a different bumper often need a different plate.
- Confirm your vehicle can be flat towed. Check the “recreational towing” section of the owner’s manual — not every car, transmission or drivetrain can be towed four-down.
- Mixing brands needs an adapter. Base plate and tow bar brands use different connection styles (for example, a Blue Ox base plate with a Roadmaster tow bar). We’ll tell you exactly which adapter you need.
