Product Description

The Roadmaster 521453-5 is an EZ5 direct-connect base plate kit made for the 2018–2025 Jeep Wrangler JL and 2026 Jeep Wrangler without an aftermarket bumper. A base plate mounts to the towed vehicle's frame behind the front bumper and gives a motorhome-mounted tow bar a strong, vehicle-specific attachment point for flat towing. With the direct-connect design, the tow bar attaches directly to the base plate's removable arms, so no crossbar is needed, and the arms come off when you're not towing.

If your tow bar or a towing accessory requires a crossbar, choose the crossbar-style EZ4 version (521453-4) instead. To complete a flat-towing setup, pair the base plate with a compatible tow bar, safety cables, a towed-vehicle wiring kit and a supplemental braking system.

  • Match year, make, model and trim. Base plates are vehicle-specific, and trims with adaptive cruise, front sensors or a different bumper often need a different plate.
  • Confirm your vehicle can be flat towed. Check the “recreational towing” section of the owner’s manual — not every car, transmission or drivetrain can be towed four-down.
  • Mixing brands needs an adapter. Base plate and tow bar brands use different connection styles (for example, a Blue Ox base plate with a Roadmaster tow bar). We’ll tell you exactly which adapter you need.
