Product Description
The Roadmaster 521453-4 is an EZ4 crossbar-style base plate kit made for the 2018–2025 Jeep Wrangler JL and 2026 Jeep Wrangler without an aftermarket bumper. A base plate mounts to the towed vehicle's frame behind the front bumper and gives the tow bar a strong, vehicle-specific attachment point for flat towing. With the crossbar style, a removable crossbar attaches to the base plate's removable tabs and the tow bar connects to the crossbar.
Choose the crossbar-style EZ4 if your tow bar or towing accessory requires a crossbar. If your motorhome-mounted tow bar connects directly to the base plate, the direct-connect version (521453-5) is the usual choice. To complete a flat-towing setup, pair the base plate with a compatible tow bar, safety cables, a towed-vehicle wiring kit and a supplemental braking system.

- Match year, make, model and trim. Base plates are vehicle-specific, and trims with adaptive cruise, front sensors or a different bumper often need a different plate.
- Confirm your vehicle can be flat towed. Check the “recreational towing” section of the owner’s manual — not every car, transmission or drivetrain can be towed four-down.
- Mixing brands needs an adapter. Base plate and tow bar brands use different connection styles (for example, a Blue Ox base plate with a Roadmaster tow bar). We’ll tell you exactly which adapter you need.
