Product Description

The Roadmaster 521440-4 is an EZ4 Series crossbar-style base plate kit made for the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee WK without tow hooks or a brush guard. A base plate mounts to the towed vehicle's frame behind the front bumper and gives the tow bar a strong, vehicle-specific attachment point for flat towing. With the crossbar style, a removable crossbar attaches to the base plate's removable tabs and the tow bar connects to the crossbar.

Installation notes from the manufacturer: some trimming of the bumper (fascia, plastic and grille) and of the air dam is required, and special tools are needed (see the installation instructions). Choose this EZ4 kit if your tow bar or towing accessory requires a crossbar; for direct connection, see the 521440-5.

  • Match year, make, model and trim. Base plates are vehicle-specific, and trims with adaptive cruise, front sensors or a different bumper often need a different plate.
  • Confirm your vehicle can be flat towed. Check the “recreational towing” section of the owner’s manual — not every car, transmission or drivetrain can be towed four-down.
  • Mixing brands needs an adapter. Base plate and tow bar brands use different connection styles (for example, a Blue Ox base plate with a Roadmaster tow bar). We’ll tell you exactly which adapter you need.
