Product Description
The Roadmaster 8603 is a coiled breakaway cable with a snap hook, designed for use with towed-vehicle breakaway systems. The cable connects the motorhome to the breakaway switch on the towed vehicle, so that if the vehicles separate, the cable pulls the breakaway pin and activates the supplemental braking system.
Its self-supporting coiled design holds the cable up off the road surface while still allowing plenty of slack for cornering. It extends to 8 feet and retracts for storage. The red plastic coating makes it easy to tell apart from your safety cables.
Compatibility
- Designed to work with virtually any breakaway system
This is a breakaway cable, not a load-rated safety cable. Use it in addition to properly rated safety cables. Contact us with your braking system model if you have questions.

Pro tipTow bar setup tips
- Rating first. The tow bar’s capacity must be higher than your towed vehicle’s loaded weight.
- Keep it close to level. Tow bar makers specify how far the motorhome hitch and the base plate connection can be apart in height — use a rise or drop receiver to bring them in range (see your tow bar’s instructions).
- Check base plate compatibility. Different brands connect differently; mixing brands requires the right adapter.
